Indoor Cricket is the fastest and most popular indoor sport in Melbourne with competitions catering for beginners right through to experienced players in Men’s and Mixed. Indoor Cricket is a modified version of Outdoor Cricket played on a fully carpeted and netted court. Therefore, most of the rules are the same except for some slight variations which make everyone become more involved in the game. Here are a few of the more common ones you should know.
Teams consist of 8 players (must have a minimum of 6 players), and in the case of mixed cricket there can be no more than 4 males. Games run for 2 x 16 over innings with the result depending on which team has scored the most amount of runs. All players must bat in pairs for 4 overs and bowl 2 overs each. Runs are scored by running between the wickets as well as hitting the ball into the scoring zones. The ball is always live except when a wicket falls, the end of an over or if the umpire calls ‘dead ball’. All players must wear sporting attire (i.e. Shorts, runners, tracksuit) & matching coloured T-shirts. No singlets, denim or sleeveless shirts. Any bad behavior, language or organisation will not be tolerated and remember the umpire’s decision is final. You can also download the Cricket Australia Rules of Indoor Cricket.
Match fees are 8 a side $120.00 per team per game & 6 a side $90.00 per team per game (i.e. $15.00 per player). Match fees must be paid in full regardless of the number of players. Competition registration fees and insurance are now included in your match fees. All equipment which inclules bats, balls & gloves as well as umpires are provided.
We provide full comprehensible match stats for each team & player.
